Job Description

Job Summary: The Psychiatrist will deliver quality substance abuse/psychiatric care to adult patients in the hospital and residential treatment programs. The Psychiatrist will serve as the leader of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, providing leadership in the development and implementation of all aspects of the clinic program, serving as an educator and role model, interfacing with community agencies, family and community members, other facilities to maintain a positive awareness of the Kirkbride center.


Schedule Expectations:
  • Monday through Friday, plus one (1) required weekend per month.
  • Part-time, 20-25 hours per week.
  • Available schedule options: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM or 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM .
Position Description:
  • Provide supervisory and administrative support to the Medical Director.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the interdisciplinary clinical team, including the development and execution of the collaborative treatment plan with patients and the treatment team.
  • Ensure the facility achieves its mission of delivering high-quality behavioral health care to its patients in compliance with all corporate policies.
  • Collaborate with Kirkbride's administration through involvement in Administrative, Clinical Performance Improvement, and Peer Review Activities.
  • Supervises and evaluates the psychiatric treatment provided to program patients.
  • Conducts referral and census development activities to ensure broad community awareness and understanding of the services and programs offered at the Kirkbride Center.
  • Ensures that written clinical records are maintained according to the standards established by CoreCare.
When applicable, serves as a narcotic treatment physician with the following duties:
  • Performs a medical history and physical exam, as appropriate.
  • Determines diagnosis and narcotic dependence.
  • Reviews treatment plans
  • Determines dosage and all changes in dosage.
  • Discusses cases with the treatment team.
  • Issues verbal orders about patient care.
  • Assesses co-existing medical and psychiatric disorders.
  • Treats or makes appropriate referrals for treatment of these disorders.

Qualifications:


Must have an M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy in the U.S. or a valid M.D. from a foreign school of Medicine and have passed the ECFMG exam. Completed an internship or PGY1 training from an accredited graduate medical education program recognized by the AMA, LCME, or AOA. Have a valid and current PA medical license for the practice of psychiatry. Board certified or eligible in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Provide a listing, upon request, of the location, inclusive dates, and reasons for termination of any and all health care settings where clinical privileges have been granted; Have a valid and current DEA certificate number; currently enrolled in good standing, in the PA Medical Assistance Program and possesses a minimum of professional liability as required. Physical and Mental Job Requirements:

Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must accurately convey details or important spoken instructions to others, sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db loss a Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.


Individuals must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and to be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients on the unit and in therapeutic activities. While a worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
